The short video shows the iPhone Duo's Home Screen icons and widgets moving and rotating outside their normal positions. Calif also displayed customisations that suggest the team had gained deeper access to the device's software.
The demonstration follows Calif's earlier work on an iPhone 18 Pro running iOS 27.0.1, where researchers demonstrated a jailbreak that retained root access after a restart. However, Calif has not confirmed that the same method was used on the iPhone Duo.
No Public Jailbreak Tool Yet
Despite the successful demonstration, Calif has not released a jailbreak tool for the public. Researcher Stefan Esser indicated that the team does not plan to provide a tool for everyday users, although a proof of concept may be published later.
For iPhone Duo owners, the demonstration is a reminder that new devices can still contain security weaknesses. Keeping iOS updated and installing security fixes promptly remain important ways to reduce exposure.
